The Wildcats had a great opening game to their 2021 campaign with a dominate win over Louisiana Monroe, even though they aren’t a tough opponent it is good to see Kentucky taking advantage on both ends of the ball. They put up huge numbers with 554 yards of total offense including 135 rushing and 419 passing yards. This is a testament to their quarterback Will Levis who looked controlled and skilled. Levis went 18/26 for 367 yards including 4 touchdowns and only 1 interception. The Kentucky defense also looked great, even against a low-level opponent. They held Monroe to just 87 yards of total offense.
Missouri on the other hand managed a 34-24 win over Central Michigan. They went for 257 passing yards and 211 rushing yards. Their Quarterback looked Conor Bazelak looked solid going 21/32 with 2 touchdowns. The weakness I find with Missouri is their defence, they might have a good balanced game with rushing and passing but last game their defence let in 475 yards. Now going into a game where they face a hungry and skilled passing QB like Levis this could cause serious issues.
The line, at the time of writing this, is Kentucky -5.5. Although this game should be close, I give the defence edge to Kentucky in this one. Missouri is also 1-5 against the spread in their last 6 games, and 1-7 against the spread in their last 8 road games. Back Kentucky to get the job done.
