Dave Covers Spreads, NBA FREE PICK: Celtics vs Warriors NBA FINALS GAME 6

The Golden State Warriors are just one win away from an NBA Championship. The Boston Celtics look to make a stop and extend the series to game 7 as the teams square off in TD Garden. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are under the spotlight, can they keep Boston alive? Here is my free prediction and pick for game 6.

Coming off possibly the biggest performance of his career Steph Curry wasn’t quite himself in game 5. Held to just 16 points and 0-9 from 3 the Celtics defence did wonders on the Chef. Klay Thompson hit big shots, Draymond Green was the Swiss army knife, Andrew Wiggins played his best basketball and Jordan Poole knocked down one of the most ridiculous 3-point shots you’ll ever see on the finals stage.

The Public is all over the Warriors preaching about Wiggins, forgetting what this Celtics team can do.

In game 5, Boston started out terribly including a record breaking 0-12 start from behind the arc, before overcoming a 17 point defect and taking the lead. This life was short lived as they were outscored by 9 in the 4th quarter ultimately losing the game 104-94. Turnovers continue to be the story of the game for the Celtics losing 7/8 games when finishing with 15 or more turnovers. Game 5, featuring 18 turnovers, was a frustrating game for Celtics bettors to watch. The team allowed 22 points off turnovers, missed 10 free throws and only lost the game by 10 (including garbage time minutes).

The team needs their two stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to step up and lead this team. Tatum might have led the Celtics in points in game 5, but he also shot 2-of-6 from the free throw line and turned the ball over four times. Brown turned the ball over five times and shot a pitiful 27.8 percent from the floor. That isn’t going to cut it on this stage against an elite defensive team.

I think the Celtics have had really good chances to win both Game 4 and 5. If the Celtics can’t get right offensively on their home court in their final home game of the season to force a Game 7, it tells you all you need to know. The Celtics’ defense should hold to form in Game 6 and limit the Warriors opportunities. The media is fornicating over the Andrew Wiggins performances but are we really saying that Andrew Wiggins is going to beat this nearly flawless defense? If that isn’t enough the Celtics have held the best shooting team this postseason to just 105 points per game during the Finals. Give me the Celtics to win and force a game 7, I am backing them with confidence.
